Bedtime Stories: Odd Tongues 4 Oddkins
portfolio
Previous Risoprint publication with OSE and Parks Press
I collaborated with George Harding of Parks Press in the past.
The artist book I have been commissioned by Winchester School of Art will be using this shared experience and type of aesthetics as a starting point.
We co-produced this publication which involved:
collective collage activities, formatting, editing using a multi layered style which we achieved through workshops.
learning about the overall process of risoprinting as a technique
working with 14 people who attended 4 workshops that broke down the steps for the final result.
“Making oddkin is about staying with the trouble of inheriting histories of oppression and still cultivating the capacity to respond, to care, and to invent possibilities for living and dying well together.”
— Donna Haraway

This audiovisual piece developed as a collaboration with Dr. Lizzie Reed whilst at Open School East (OSE) in 2023 draws from concepts in the work of Donna Haraway’s “Staying with the Trouble”, with particular attention to the concept of ‘oddkin’.
Whilst being on show at Winchester Gallery (31 Jan- 15 Mar 25), the public will have a chance to respond to it. Participants associated with the project grant will respond to this installation during the workshops.
Its aesthetics which includes multimodal collage, glitches, oversaturated colour, and texts is another inspiration behind the development of the artist’s book.
previous workshop: What is queering the family?
The production of the artist book will be a development from the workshop Dr. Lizzie Reed and I delivered in 2023 and a continuation on the creative methodologies we have been using.

Published Research Paper (Oct 2024):
To Raise a Village Fall Far From the Tree
Detailed in this paper there is a clear breakdown of the creative methodologies that Dr. Lizzie Reed and I have been developing and testing since 2023. The artist book that I have been commissioned to produce is a further step into the realisation of this creative approach that aims to record and question traditional concepts of kinship and inheritance through full community involvement, co-production principles and collaboration.
